Youth Recommendations for KDMECC National Action Plan

The World Bank's 2021 Uganda Climate Risk Country Profile reveals a stark reality: an average of 200,000 Ugandans are impacted annually by climate-related disasters, including floods, landslides, and droughts, over the past two decades. This crisis disproportionately affects youth, children, women, and other vulnerable groups, leaving them highly susceptible to climate-induced displacement and migration. The Kampala Ministerial Declaration on Migration, Environment, and Climate Change (KDMECC) provides a crucial roadmap for addressing this escalating crisis. Adopted in 2022 by 11 countries in the East and Horn of Africa, the KDMECC seeks to foster coordinated regional action to enhance climate adaptation, mitigate the challenges of human mobility, and safeguard vulnerable populations.
