A Midlands brand agency has joined other organisations to sponsor the upcoming Rothley10k running event.
Alongside wealth management firm Mattioli Woods plc, Midlands-based brand agency Champions (UK) plc has been announced as a new sponsor.
On September 14, participants and spectators will gather at Woodgate, outside of the Babbington Court Care Home, at 6pm, in a bid to raise money for LOROS, a local hospice caring for more than 2,500 people across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
The Rothley10k takes place each year, and over the last three years, the event has raised more than £300,000 for several local charities, including LOROS, Rainbows, and Age UK.
And, whilst COVID-19 stopped the 2020 event, this year’s race will cohere with government guidelines, ensuring that safety remains a priority.
After what has been a turbulent 18 months for the charity sector, the Rothley10k has several high-profile sponsors.
Lead sponsor Mattioli Woods plc has a long-standing working relationship with Champions (UK) plc, and the wealth management firm is thrilled with the announcement.
Ian Mattioli, CEO of Mattioli Woods, said: “The whole team is absolutely delighted to have Champions on board as one of this year’s sponsors.
“We’ve worked with Champions for a number of years now, so it is great to have their ongoing support in other areas of our work.”
This year’s event is even more special as it is dedicated to Colin Favell, who sadly passed away in February 2020.
As the founder of the Rothley10k, Colin was instrumental to its success. The entire community is committed to remembering his dedication, enthusiasm and love for the event as they dust off their running shoes.
Matthew Hayes, managing director of Champions (UK) plc, said: “We couldn’t be happier to be sponsoring this year’s event.
“It’s been a difficult year for everybody, but even more so for the charity sector, so it is great to show our support.”
“The Rothley10k race raises money for such a good cause. I am immensely proud to have members of the Champions family taking party, and many of us will also be there cheering everybody on.
To take part in the event, participants must register by September 7. All proceeds will be donated to LOROS.
