Sporting organisations do incredible work for charity and this week we doff our caps to Laytown and Bettystown Golf Club, which donated €20,000 to local hospice associations following the club’s recent Hospice Golf Classic.
Captain Gerry Wickham was able to hand over €10,000 each to the East Meath Hospice Association and the Drogheda Hospice Association.
Over 200 golfers played in the event, which, along with an overwhelming response to a request to support the associated raffle, led to €20,000 being raised.
The funds will be used to help and support anyone diagnosed with cancer in the community.
