Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson lauds supporters for ‘stunning achievement’ – Rangers News

Stewart Robertson has lauded Rangers fans for a “stunning achievement” [Rangers.co.uk].
The club’s managing director was speaking after being presented with a token of gratitude by Erskine, Scotland’s largest veteran’s charity.

The presentation came after the Rangers Supporters Erskine Appeal – which was set up in 2007 – reached the £1m mark earlier this year.
The gift given to Rangers was a ‘unique illustration’ of Paul Hunter’s 2014 poem, ‘The Poppy’, which was written to commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War I.
“The hard-work and endeavour of the Rangers Supporters Erskine Appeal is a credit to our entire support,” said Robertson [Rangers.co.uk]. “Reaching over £1 million in fundraising efforts is a stunning achievement and all for a fantastic charity. Erskine goes above and beyond to ensure that our ex-servicemen and women are looked after with the highest quality of care and is a charity that we are proud to support.”

The £1m mark was an incredible milestone for the RSEA to pass, particularly given its humble beginnings 14 years ago.
It didn’t take long to grow, though, with regular dinners, raffles and sponsored walks organised to support the cause.
A number of Rangers legends, including Gordon Smith, Brian Laudrup and Sasa Papac have played their part along the way by giving up their time, while individual fans have gone above and beyond to organise their own fundraising events and challenges, particularly during the pandemic.
While Rangers are always seeking out new commercial opportunities, it’s important that the club also facilitates and plays an active role in charity work both in the local community and further afield.
Fans help to pump a lot of money into the club’s Academy each year and the investment looks to be paying off, based on stunning B team and U18s results over the weekend.
